Cause Description:
With a mission to assist victims of violent crime and prevent violence, the Regional Crime Victim Crisis Center (RCVCC) began as the Abilene Rape Crisis Center in 1977 as part of the Mental Health/Mental Retardation Center. In 1997, the agency became an independent 501(c)(3) non-profit agency serving victims of all types of violent crime, with the most frequent cases being child sexual assault and physical abuse, adult sexual assault, and adults molested as children. RCVCC serves communities within Taylor, Callahan, Jones, Coleman, Shackelford, and Haskell Counties in Texas. In addition to victim services, RCVCC’s violence prevention programs use proven, nationally recognized, evidence-based, age appropriate curricula to reach thousands of students in area schools and community organizations. The most cost effective way of identifying, as well as preventing violence before it happens is a multi-dose approach to break the cycle of violence. All RCVCC services and programs are provided free of charge to ensure availability to participants.
