The SWLAHEC AmeriCorps program is designed to meet the needs of non-profit organizations that provide healthcare programs and services to their community. Our AmeriCorps service area spans 13 parishes in Southwest Louisiana and also serves areas in North, Central and Southeastern Louisiana. In addition, SWLAHEC AmeriCorps members serve in economically challenged communities and are dedicated to increasing the capability of people to improve the conditions of their own lives. Members live in the communities they serve, creating programs that can continue after they complete their service. This is a program that serves medically vulnerable and underserved populations with limited access to health services and engages in the reduction of health disparities in Louisiana.
