Cause Description:
The Big Apple Circus has a mission to preserve and present the artistry and intimacy of traditional European and early American circus arts. Every year, Big Apple Circus core company artists, and visiting artists from around the world, collaborate to present original classical, one-ring circus productions of the highest quality. Our audiences are primarily young people and, much of the time, a Big Apple Circus performance is their first cultural experience. Our productions give them an excellent introduction to the many positive virtues of the arts, as well as lifetime memories. The Circus takes great efforts to provide the Big Apple Circus experience to underserved children. Our four community outreach programs, the Clown Care Unit®, Circus of the Senses®, Circus for All!®, and Beyond the Ring®, were created to transport the quality and artistry of our one-ring performances to hospitals and inner-city communities and to bring physically and economically disadvantaged young people right to our tent for performances.
