Cause Description:
1. WITF is committed to supporting education and educational institutions, including public education, higher education and continuing and professional education. Education may be formal (curriculum-based and credit-granting) or informal (science education through NOVA).

2. WITF treats our audiences as citizens, not just as consumers. Our work is dedicated to providing the information necessary for an enlightened civic society to discuss, engage and improve itself.

3. WITF knows its audiences and listens to their needs and opinions. We use all the tools available to us (our own media, the telephone, the internet, public forums, personal interaction) to further a respectful on-going conversation with our listeners, viewers, readers and learners.

4. WITF seeks to reach more diverse audiences than we do today. Our goal is not the maximum audience size in any medium, but to make the most of each medium's unique characteristics. Each of WITF's media has strengths for particular kinds of content and for particular kinds of audiences.

5. WITF seeks collaboration, cooperation and partnerships internally and externally, to extend our reach, maximize our efforts and better serve our communities.

6. WITF's endeavors-journalistic, artistic, technological-will be characterized by a commitment to improve and to become the best in its class.
