Services for the Underserved (SUS) was established in 1978 to meet the needs of New Yorkers with multiple challenges. Our mission is to provide the basis to maximize independence through self-help for physically and/or emotionally disabled individuals. SUS cares for approximately 2,000 people with special needs in New York City. Our consumers are the elderly and/or disabled individuals, persons with a mental illness, individuals with HIV/AIDS, individuals with a developmental disability and theomeless and other marginalized individuals. SUS' programs include housing with supported services, employment services and home care services.
