Smart Readers Free Books for Kids is a program sponsored by SmartWriters.com. We work with a network of professional book reviewers to donate the books they receive for review to elementary and high schools, homeless shelters, women's shelters, libraries, children's hospitals - any group that is in need of children's books. These professional reviewers send boxes of recently released books to shelters and schools who add the books to the school library, to classroom libaries, or give them as gifts to the children, many of whom have never owned a book of their very own. It is a great gift indeed. Shipping books is expensive, though, even at USPS Book Rate. Our goal is to get the hundreds of books these reviewers receive every year out to kids who really need them, at no cost to the kids or their parents or teachers. SmartWriters.com is proud to support this program by reimbursing reviewers for the postage to send these books to the kids who need them, and helping to coordinate the organizations and classrooms who wish to be placed on our recipient list.
