COVERSA is a sexual assault center, collecting forensic evidence in sexual assault for DNA analysis. COVERSA is a free standing center dedicated to victims, providing a safe, comfortable and comforting environment over a busy impersonal emergency department. COVERSA provides trained SANE nurses for the evidence collection. The organization works with local advocacy groups, the area Police Crime Lab, police and prosecutors. It also contracts with area hospitals to provide SANE for examinations in hospital settings for victims requiring medical stabilization.
