Good Shepherd Lutheran Home of the West is a Christian ministry serving people with developmental disabilities and other disabling conditions. It serves more than 800 people in more than 100 group homes, apartment programs and supported living settings in Arizona, California, Colorado, Oregon and Washington. It also offers early childhood programs and support services for children living at home with their parents. In each of Good Shepherd's programs, residents experience a genuine feeling of love and staff members reflect this love through their dedication. The organization employs 1,000 people and has an operating budget in excess of $24 million annually. The majority of funds come from governmental sources through client entitlements. These entitlements, however, are inadequate to provide quality care and training for the residents. Therefore, Good Shepherd must reply on gifts from other sources to need this need.
