Cause Description:
Caleb's Canine Rescue, Inc. ("CCRescue") takes in or rescues, rehabilitates and re-homes abandoned, unwanted, and/or homeless dogs, primarily beagles. Our rescued dogs come from various county dog pounds, shelters and humane societies. CCRescue operates solely through volunteers who take care of the dogs in their own homes. None of the volunteers are paid for their efforts. CCRescue pays for the cost of food and medical care for the dogs and supplies crates and carriers for use by the volunteer “foster” homes. Every dog is taken to a veterinarian shortly after arrival in the rescue.   In addition to treating any specific ailments, each is vaccinated (DHLPPC and Rabies), wormed, tested for heartworm and started on heartworm preventative.  The dogs are either spayed/neutered before placement or, in some cases, placed with a spay/neuter clause in the adoption contract. The spaying and neutering of the dogs prevents them from continuing to breed and adding to the overpopulation of unwanted pets in this country. We then begin searching for a home for each dog. Our primary source of applicants is our web site and listing of the dogs on other websites created for that purpose. Applicants must complete an Adoption Application. They are interviewed when they meet the dog they are interested in. We visit their home to ensure that the applicant offers an appropriate environment and has the facilities to properly house a pet dog. The applicant must pay an adoption fee and must execute an Adoption Contract agreeing to certain minimal standards of care for the dog and to relinquish the dog back to CCRescue if they can ever no longer keep it.
