Cause Description:
The Seva Foundation was founded in 1978. It takes its name from a sanskrit word which means service. It is founded on the belief that people motivated by compassion for each other can work together in international partnerships to solve problems. Seva works in Tibet, Nepal, India, Mexico, Guatemala and with Native Americans in the United States. At the heart of Seva's partnership work in helping communities become sustainable and fight specific diseases is a profound respect for the diverse spiritual traditions and cultures of its partners. People struggling for health, economic security and cultural survival seek allies who will work with them to create lasting solutions. We choose to celebrate the gifts people bring to create solutions to their problems rather than viewing them solely in terms of their needs.
