Cause Description:
Chicago Women in Trades is a twenty year old membership based organizaton dedicated to encouraging and supporting tradeswomen and women and girls interested in entering a career in construction and manufacturing. Working in these careers has many benefits, including wages that provide economic self-sufficiency, health insurance, on-the-job training and pensions through union membership. Although women have succeed in breaking down bareers in many sectors of the economy, women continue to hold less than three percent of the opportunities in the skilled trades. Our programs and services include job training, career exploration and working with employers and unions to create more hospitable work environments.
