Cause Description:
Founded out of concern for the many animals that are neglected, abandoned, or stray, and eventually find themselves in the local Lee County Pound. Save Just One recently (Jan. 2001) became an affiliate of S.O.S. (Save Our Shelter), a non-profit organization based in Richmond. An animal rescue group is being organized here in southwestern Virginia, and several dedicated volunteers have been recruited. The efforts of SAVE JUST ONE will not be limited to rescue, but will encompass other goals such as promoting spaying and neutering to reduce the over-population of companion pets, distributing informative literature to the public, supporting animal welfare legislation, and generally trying to see that unwanted animals are treated humanely.
