Cause Description:
The Benton Soil and Water Conservation District provides leadership at the local level, helping land owners and cooperators design and implement natural resource management plans and locate financial assistance through grants and cost-share programs to achieve their conservation objectives. The Benton SWCD also provides education to local schools via field soils classes for 6th graders in Outdoor Schools, Conservation Poster Contest, and in-class presentations; we sponsor workshops on various conservation topics such as soil quality, Backyard Conservation, Conservation Planning,etc. We also help facilitate emerging watershed councils and landowner groups. Some of our major projects include low-cost native tree sale , roadside vegetation management, and riparian area and wetland restoration, and wildlife habitate improvement.
