Cause Description:
Protection, preservation and propagation are strategies which must be adopted if endangered gorillas are to be saved from extinction. The Foundation serves as an advocate for free-living gorillas in order to protect their remaining populations and publicize their loss of habitat. Because of the uncertainty in Africa, improved care and treatment of captive gorillas is crucial. The Foundation identifies optimum gorilla diet, habitat and environmental conditions, and distributes this information to zoos and other organizations. The Foundation also disseminates information regarding the often overlooked emotional and psychological needs of gorillas.
