Cause Description:
For nearly 40 years, the Living Arts & Science Center's mission has been to provide creative and unique opportunities for exploration and education in the arts and sciences. Each year we provide over 400 classes for children 18-months old up to adults; 7 to 9 art exhibits of local and regional artists; a Discovery exhibit focusing on the relationships between art and science; hands-on exploration fieldtrips; and numerous arts and science outreach programs to social service agencies and community centers to provide educational and creative programs to at-risk, special needs and underserved audiences. The Living Arts & Science Center is located in the inner-city in the Kinkeade House, an 1847 building now on the National Register for Historic Places. Our grounds include a children's garden, a man-made pond and stream with native Kentucky plantings, an outdoor classroom and numerous works of public art created by neighborhood residents in partnership with local artists.
