Cause Description:
The Prince George's County Historical & Cultural Trust, est. in 1968, is a non-profit charitable body of 15 member appointed by the County. The Trust was created for the purpose of preserving & maintaining historical, aesthetic & cultural properties, building, fixtures, etc., and to encourage others to do so & to promote interest and study in same. Membership in the Trust is through the Friends of Preservation (FOP). The FOP was created in 1982 to support preservation programs. Benefits include a quarterly newsletter, invitations to Trust events, and discounts on items at the Newel Post. The Newel Post is a recycling center of architectural elements salvaged from old buildings or accepted as donations. The Newel Post is operated by the Trust and is open the first & third Saturdays of the month.
