Cause Description:
The mission and vision of the Memphis Black Arts Alliance, Inc. is to build the community through the arts. through innovative, value-added multi-arts and heritage-based place(s), experiences, services, ventures and products which support, present and produce creative works which build community spirit, illuminate and help children, families, the elderly and singles meet today’s challenges, creatively; helping all to feel good about who they are regardless of ages, incomes, abilities, religious, racial and ethnic background. Located in a converted 1910 fire station at 985 South Bellevue Blvd, the FireHouse Community Arts Center, MBAA’s primary services include: dance, music, visual arts and theater classes at the FireHouse Community Arts Academy; Arts-A-F!RE Youth Theater Troupe, a youth development program; Arts-A-FireWORKS, arts-based jobs development program; Jazz-A-F!RE at the FireHouse, monthly jam session; Arts-A-Fire Camps (Summer, Kwanzaa, School’s Out); Encore Creative Arts for Mature Adults; FireHouse Little Theater; FireHouse Gallery and Library.
