Cause Description:
SERRC, established in 1972, is the oldest raptor rehabilitation center in the Southeastern U.S. It is also the only full service medical and surgical raptor rehabilitation center in the region. It has been nationally recognized for almost a quarter-century and has been licensed since 1977 by the U.S. Department of the Interior's Fish and Wildlife Service to treat and rehabilitate injured raptors, i.e., birds of prey, such as hawks, eagles, owls, falcons and vultures. Dozens of Auburn University students and community volunteers participate in the center's activities. Volunteers and staff who receive training at the SERRC often go on to other positions in areas of wildlife conservation and wildlife medicine.
