Cause Description:
Desert Survivors teaches adults with severe behavioral disabilities to grow and care for desert plants, using horticultural therapy to help them enhance their self-image, earn an income, and contribute to their community. DS also runs a Children's Program providing family-centered early intervention to young children in Tucson and on the Tohono O'Odham Reservation; a vocational service program for high school special needs students; a plant nursery and garden on the Reservation that employs tribal members with disabilities; and 3 mobile landscaping crews composed of CD clients.
