CANDO..We build Chicago communities; we develop neighborhood economies.With your support, we can do more. CANDO, the Chicago Association of Neighborhood Development Organizations, was founded in 1979. For over 19 years, CANDO has been providing Chicago’s neighborhoods with professional economic development expertise. Our association has acquired an international reputation through its advocacy for, and assistance to, its nonprofit neighborhood economic development members. CANDO’s mission is to promote commercial and industrial revitalization in Chicago’s neighborhoods; to serve as liaison between our members and government agencies, foundations, news media, and other institutions; to provide technical assistance to member neighborhood development organizations; to make financing available to neighborhood retail and industrial businesses; and to formulate public policies or respond to existing ones without regard to partisan politics.
