Cause Description:
Colon cancer is the #2 cancer killer even though the ACS states that it is 90% preventable. Therefore, the mission of the HCCA is to provide information and support for the patients with an inherited colon cancer disorder and their families. To increase awareness and to educate the public about Hereditary Colon Cancer. To be a resource for information and support to health care professionals and to raise and distribute funds for research for the prevention of inherited colon cancer disorders. Hereditary factors are strongly related to about 30 percent of all cases of colorectal cancer. Hereditary risks are due to genetic damage passed from one generation to the next.
